A website that is bias is okay if it is a new site. Bias websites are also okay if you want someones opinion or response to a certain question. You can use websites if you want it for school or personal as long as it is like a news website.
Look at the sites listed below. In addition to thinking about don’t just think about what the sites cover and whether they’re accurate or not, but also what biases they might have. Complete your worksheet as you look at each site.
A good webiste that I have used is http://www.nationalgeographic.com/ because the national geographic website has given me good information in history. I like this website because of the information and there really isn’t any thing bad to see. The website is a legit source and does meet the 5 W’s. I would continue to use this website for school research and I would recommend it to others.
1) Keeping in mind the materials from today’s class (tumblr entries, video, worksheets, and discussion), please think about one website that you have used in the past for school research purposes. In a text post on your tumblr, please POST THE URL OF THE WEBSITE and answer the following…
K -I know that when evaluating a website you can try to make good judgments. Also, you can tell by the way the website was put together. If it has the information about the author and that type of stuff then it may be legit. Also, if it is an .edu website it is legit.
W - I want to know more details and tips on making good judgments on weather the website is a legit source of information.
L - I learned that if a website is has .gov or .edu then it is automatically legit. I also learned that if a website looks like it has substance then can set up a red flag. In addition, I learned that websites can be biased such as blogs so I should make sure I read the content first.
